Sashiko Flowers
Sashiko is a decorative Japanese embroidery that was traditionally used to mend and strengthen clothes. Sashiko has become a popular as a way to embellish or visibly repair clothes and accessories.
In this workshop you will learn how to sew a variety of decorative flower stitches. These will be used to create drawstring bags or coasters. You will learn how to transfer the patterns and make the running stitch that forms the basis of sashiko. In the workshop you will receive your own sashiko needle, threads, fabric and instructions to complete the projects at home.
No previous sewing experience is necessary and all equipment and materials will be provided.
Liz Taylor started her business Sew Taylor Made Designs in 2019 and uses gorgeous Japanese fabrics to create bags and accessories. She has previously run sashiko workshops for the local WI, at the Tate RIBA North as part of the DOES takeover and at Florence and Fox.
